Heresy, Radio Four: free tickets

Sunday, 28 February 2016

A new series of Heresy, the comedy discussion show I present and produce for Radio Four, is in the offing! Free tickets are available for the recordings in central London: either for the early show (6.30 for 7pm) or late show (7.30 for 8.15pm) on Monday March 14th, Tuesday March 22nd or Thursday April 7th.

Heresy has that name because the guests and I argue against “received opinion” - the idea is to find creative or free-thinking or purely mischievous ways to dispel knee-jerk opinions that most people hold, like “It would be nice to live in a house like Downton Abbey”, “Cameron and Osborne are too posh by half” or “Video games should not be an Olympic sport”.

We always have a range of smart, funny, interesting guests - previous shows have featured Frank Skinner, Germaine Greer, Lee Mack, Katy Brand, Clive James… for other glittering examples, and to apply for tickets, click on this link.

If you get tickets, be sure to come along early as the nature of free recording tickets is that the organisers supply more tickets than there are seats so some people are always turned away rather than risk empty spaces in the theatre. I wish that didn’t happen, but it’s the nature of the beast so don’t come late if you mind missing it!

I’d love to hear this show, but it’s hard because I’m not in the UK. Could you talk the BBC in to making Heresy available as a podcast too?

Sorry Victoria, this comment is not related to the blog but I can’t find a better place to post it.
I read your latest column about meltdown and cars today. And what a coincidence that I am facing the same boy issue - “never split up with girlfriend” to be specific - for the first time. You and David are quite inspiring in many ways to me and the fact that you are talking about boy issues in such a candid manner gave me so much strength to deal with it.
I just want to say thank you. I have booked the ticket to your show on 14th.

Brian, I have no problem listening to any BBC Radio online (on iplayer) from Canada, even though BBC TV is blocked.  Maybe it varies from country to country?  But if you haven’t tried yet, do.
