Great news. about a new series so soon.

Congratulations on your promotion to BBC2.  Is this news?  First I’ve heard anyway

Thank you! I hope it will do all right in the glaring spotlight of BBC Two… But no need to worry about that yet, we’re still in the old family home for this spring.

BBC2! Whoopee!! Its only a matter of time before OC gets the ultimate accolade, a transfer to DAVE! xx

Why was the answer ‘the Australian flag’ unacceptable? It has five stars on it. Five stars was what was wanted.  Otherwise I really enjoyed the programme

There are very few things my Dad and I have ever enjoyed watching together on the telly but when I was 9 I spent a while off school recouperating from surgery and my dad had been made redundant from his job as a bank manager. Every lunchtime we would switch on Call My Bluff and laugh and learn together and feel a little less glum. I particularly remember loving your dad and I’d always route for his team. Now my dad is 70 and I am 26 and we always make sure we watch Only Connect together on a Monday evening. We love it and we love you. And I want to say a big thank you to you and your dad for giving me something in common with my dad. Jen xx

Nice to see Connect back. I managed three questions and four lines on the wall before the teams - a record for me - either I’m getting smarter or you’re dumbing down before your big money transfer (hope it’s the former)

Hi Peter. I didn’t see the show on Monday and it’s a while since the recording so I don’t completely remember the question, but does the Australian flag not have six stars on it?

Jen - thank you for your very lovely message. It brought a lump to my throat. Best wishes to you both.

Hey Victoria,
I would love to take some poker lessons from you,
I am a very obedient student ..

I have always loved the show and even tried a few connecting walls of my own at the website (never had one published though). Congratulations on getting picked up by BBC 2. Can just see you fitting in between Mastermind and University Challenge.

nice to see a new series Only Connect. But would Victoria ( Loved her dad..great bloke ) please stop using the notion that “we all like a drink” in every chapter. I have used just about every drug and drink invented but I don’t use the fact to endear myself amongst others.

Can you change the only connect online game so that you can choose not to play against the clock.  I like to try for as long as possible to “resolve the wall”.  Great game   Pauline

For a terrible moment I worried that the comment about being eaten was based on a fear that you might be replaced. Then I remembered how much you enjoy overextending metaphors.

Anyway, should they replace you I will definitely stop watching. At least for a couple of episodes. Then I’ll watch while simultaneously grumbling about how much better it used to be. At least for a couple of series. Then I’ll occasionally comment to the postman, or whoever, about how brilliant it is - “But I used to watch it in its early, embryonic days, don’t you know. He’s very good, but his wife used to host it, of course, which was interesting, and the questions were signified by hieroglyphs, which was hilarious. They had ordinary members of the public on, if you can believe that. No… I know… why, right?”

“...That was before Sir Cox and Lord Winston were the team captains, of course – he is so funny. And the music was loads better. It was basically the same but without the drums and the kind of whooshy noises. And it was only half an hour, but it was kind of confusing, because they didn’t have any of those flashbacks to let you know what happened 10 minutes ago. And there was no gunge…” I’ve gone too far, haven’t I? Anyway, the point is I’m fickle…
