New Video Diary

Wednesday, 12 January 2011

The previous thread (“Sorry, sorry”) contained links to my first two attempts at video diaries, here in the Bahamas - that’s where you’ll find the quality disclaimer, if you’re going to look at the new one.

Sweep: your comments are NOTED, although I don’t think they’d let me film in the pit. Shame really, it’s been quite kindly to me so far… But I’m playing a Heads Up event later today, so maybe I can film a couple of hands to sweat.

Meanwhile, here is my third diary: a virtual tour of Atlantis, for those who aren’t familiar with this magical ancient city, raised as if by sorcery from the depths of the very ocean. Some might find the tone a little dry. I think that’s just what the presence of a camera does to me, even if I’m holding it myself. It’s the nerves. Don’t get me wrong; I have a deep fondness for this place, and swimming with the dolphins is up there among my happiest memories.

Nevertheless, give me a camera to play with and it seems to come out like this.

I LOVED IT

Much as I enjoy your regular appearances on Only Connect, I do miss the genius of your “out and about” reporting style, which I first encountered on Balderdash & Piffle.

I laughed, smiled, and was intrigued by the seeming alternation of your eye colour from blue to brown.  Magic!

Yes I agree with Ken about Balderdash and Piffle.  It really is time for a new series of that wonderful literary gem. Oh, and by the way, I prefer you with blue eyes.

Ken Sintone so true so true. Vicky needs a new vehicle, since they seem so determined not to bring Balderdash back. Brilliant!

I’ve always wanted a giant plastic lobster, what a stylish shop.
Good luck out there Vicky, rooting for you, as always.

Look, there’s nothing wrong with any of the video diaries. It’s just what you see is what you get, just the way I like it. Give me some realism any day, over the internet kiddies’ image over content. It’s why my favourite poker players are Joe Beevers and Peter Costa.

Hope you continue to say what you think. You’ve come a long way since Late Night Poker. I’m one of those grumpy old men, but I prefer real live players.
