Only Connect for Children In Need

The Only Connect tournament pauses tonight for the Children In Need special! Another shimmering array of smart people from the public eye have taken the brave step of agreeing to be put on the rack of Britain’s toughest quiz, in the hope of raising money for this excellent appeal. Our quizzers tonight will be:
* Novelist and Fast Show star Charlie Higson
* First female editor of two national broadsheets, Rosie Boycott
* Pointless stalwart, Richard Osman
* Novelist, poetry anthologist and TV producer, Daisy Goodwin
* Fleet Street’s greatest living columnist, Matthew Parris
* Britain’s brainiest footballer, Clarke Carlisle
Three of them are The Goldfingers and three of them are The Fowls. Tune in at 8.30 on BBC Four to find out which and why.

It’s a real pleasure for me to be able to come here and pass on my congratulations to you and David at this very special time. I’ve seen some of the photos - you looked spectacular and David was quite the dandy. Seemed to be a really great occasion and I hope a good time was had by all.

Given your remarks about Andy Murray today’s edition must have been recorded before the Olympics and US Open. Pity you couldn’t have replaced it with something more appropriate like the England football team.
