Like the flash of a lighthouse over a murky sea, like the glimmer of a diamond dropped inexplicably in a ploughed field, Only Connect will twinkle in the darkness tonight - for a moment - then disappear again.
Catch it while you can, as a new series won’t start properly for MONTHS yet. This is the Comic Relief special episode, helping to raise money for the BBC’s appeal, with another cocktail of clever quizzers from the public eye. Team captains Charlie Higson and Rosie Boycott will be back from last autumn’s Children In Need show, aided by fresh team-mates on whom I shall keep a stern eye. If not quite as stern as usual, for at least three reasons.

Your latest Guardian article was great too, seriously loled at the thought of Beiber as a children’s performer, maybe a little red nose and comically large shoes for good measure?

Great show, I hope you’re getting some mileage out of “Bible-man”!
Would love to hear your desert island discs, have you never been asked? Also “rainbow connection” is a CLASSIC, so I assume that was lighthearted mockery!

Great episode - excellent hosting. Hope the panellists enjoyed it as much as we did -they seemed to, but then your David always looks very happy these days.

Hello there.
No idea if you wrote it or not, but as well as tonight’s show being a very fine one indeed, i’d just like to say how exquisitely well-crafted your intro for David was. Honed to perfection. And in light of recent events, it was always going to be a rather large focal point, so I’m rather delighted that it was what it was.
I may even donate something to a certain charity quite shortly - it seems only right…
