Opinionated

Thursday, 24 November 2011

(Update: here’s the silliest bit of the show)

Just to say I’m going to be on Frank Skinner’s show, Opinionated, tomorrow night. Well… tonight. I’m typing this in the small hours of Thursday morning. I’ve just got back from recording it in Maidstone. So, from where I’m standing, I was on it tonight and I’m going to be on it tonight. It’s as confusing as flying between continents on New Year’s Eve. But that may just be because I haven’t had enough sleep.

Anyway, it’s on Thursday at 10pm on BBC Two. I hope it’ll be a good show - you never really know when you’re on something, what it would seem like to somebody watching, especially if they record for a long time and edit to half an hour. But the recording was fun, Frank was great and I’m an increasingly big fan of the other guest, Greg Davies (who was also on when I did the last series of this) - he’s a really lovely man, and very funny.

The Maidstone audience were great too. I like it that they started the show a little cool and suspicious (who wouldn’t be?), but then started laughing and it all warmed up a lot; after a while, everyone started hugging each other. You’ll figure out why if you see the show…

Anyway, I’ve no idea if I was entertaining but I spent a lot of time laughing so I’m pretty sure the others were. Hope you enjoy it if you watch.

Looking forward to it.  You were very good last time.  I am still hoping for an opportunity to open a door for you.

Watching it now, a thoroughly amusing show and the hugging was great, although a tad odd! May I also just add how utterly splendid you look, that dress was beautiful, striking and really complimented your natural skin tone! The boots however were a step too far!

Oh, and Michael Winner, what a vile little oik! Thoroughly devoid of class Miss Coren, please proceed with another verbal execution!

liked the joke about “eating out” -very quick. tomatoes and custard tho’ - bizarre

M Morgan at 10:34 pm on November 24th, 2011

Did you enjoy the Tomatoes and custard?

simon at 10:39 pm on November 24th, 2011

Was very good, liking the quick wit and the possibility of liking tomatoes (veg) and custard!

Therealalancarr at 11:07 pm on November 24th, 2011

You were entertaining. Particularly over the custard-tomato-fruit debacle…

deano at 11:11 pm on November 24th, 2011

thought you came across very well. funny, wouldn’t normally be arsed to blog/ twit or what ever you call it, but i thought i would look you up. you’re a very interesting lady.
i like to play poker but i think playing you may fu*k my game up.  when are you next playing poker, you have a new fan, not Dave! 2 tumbs fresh.

You were understated intelligent funny and very sexy as always. My type of woman….. but as a lowly author/teacher/sports coach what else would I say. Next time you visit Kent let me buy you an ice cream and you can rip into my poor syntax ...... PS My 3 sons and I love Greg Davies and they ‘suffer’ “Only Connect” and me telling them about you and poker, about how funny your dad was and how you are a proper woman!! Pleased to see more of you on tv.

You seemed more at ease this time, and it didn’t feel that you were overlooked so much in favour of audience contributions.

The physical humour worked extremely well.  That is of course one of Greg’s specialities, and you worked really well together.  You would probably make a really good guest on Ask Rhod Gilbert, or perhaps create a new show where you ask questions and Greg creates forfeits for incorrect answers.

Brilliant idea to get Frank eating tomatoes and custard.  Victoria, victorious!

Thought you were great on the show - sorry but never heard of you before so I googled you.

Don’t think the Chef did himself many favours but liked the bloke that argues for a living.

Great poker scene in Edinburgh - drop me an email if you’re ever up and I’ll show you the sights

Jamie at 5:12 pm on November 25th, 2011

Were those tomatoes really nice in custard….?

JazBenz at 7:24 pm on November 25th, 2011

It is amazing how quickly your mind works sometimes. Your body language was adorable right before Greg Davies hugged you. Reminded me of the cuteness of the hold handing otters. I think I may have tweeted you that youtube link before while you had that phase of tweeting cute pictures. Anywho, you were a delight on that show :)

benbutton at 8:53 pm on November 25th, 2011

Great show. However, when Greg comes in for the cuddle you audibly mutter, “No, I’m not ready for motherhood.” What’s THAT all about?

Irish_Mick at 1:21 am on November 26th, 2011

Just in from pub and watched recording of FSO.  Very amusing indeed.
Is it my imagination or did the hug lady look a lot like Lucy Porter?

Shaun at 3:42 am on November 26th, 2011

Lots of scary men making strange comments!

David at 10:47 am on November 26th, 2011

Hello loved you on TV the other night, very funny jokes and comments on hugging were spot on. Although, dont think greg feeding you food was a good look although it was funny. Also watched have i got news for you the same day so a bit of victoria coren overload, it was brilliant need to start watching only connect. Maybe you and mr Fry could do a only connect and qi special. here is hoping to see more of you on tv. Love Dave

JazBenz at 12:29 am on November 27th, 2011

@BenButton - because that woman in the audience who gives cuddle workshops said that a hug releases the same chemicals in the brain as when you have given birth to a child or something like that.

Adam at 1:40 pm on November 27th, 2011

Laughed like a drain. We have had a veritable feast of VC recently. Is that really it when OC ends? Surely it is about time you were invited onto QI, their guests are becoming very samey and not always very good. Huge congratulations on the IPF. What a lot of acronyms!

MDW at 12:19 pm on November 28th, 2011

I like a lady open to dishing out hugs on demand.

fingers d at 4:11 pm on November 28th, 2011

Inspirational - I’m going to throw a Cuddles party in your honour, with Custard Pizzas as the main course (or should they be dessert?).

Stan at 12:10 pm on November 29th, 2011

Thought you were wonderful on Skinner. Your outlook, common sense, and sense of humour are like a breath of fresh air.

seven2off at 7:36 pm on November 29th, 2011

Just wanted to congratulate you on your result in the IPF, another 100k to throw on the pile. Amazing. Trying to find some footage of the final table online, doesn’t seem to be any though, shame about that.
Nice work Vicky, very nice work.

alf heben at 7:11 pm on November 30th, 2011

The best joke was your eating joke -was that really not scripted?? btw you were right the first time: you put custard on fruit and salt on vegetables. I put salt on tomatoes ergo it’s a veg.

Idi Yacht at 3:03 pm on December 22nd, 2011

I like to put salt in my custard, so does that mean that I have turned my fruit into vegetables?  Indeed is my custard now a vegetable?
