i like it clyde but I think french doors are windows, gives me:
dawn, windows, fries, kiss = french
galaxy, magic, virgin, heart = FM radio stations
hole, free, doors, poison = bands
but maybe i’ve fallen into a trap because i can’t see a connection between champagne, wall, lightning and cigarettes

Adam - you have all four groupings and three of the connections correct… it’s now a case of finding the connection between the final four (it’s not white. Perhaps it’s a leeeetle obscure, but I’m sure someone will get it).

OK, this is a bit of a stretch, but is the final connection songs by Oasis:

The Shock of the LlGHTNING (which is apparently the first single from their last album, although it completely passed me by - had to find that one on Wikipedia)

I don’t know what’s sadder. That people use Google and Wikipedia for answers, or that they openly boast about it. I may be missing something, but where’s the fun in that? Not so much a test of knowledge, more a test of research skills.

Easy? This one is too hard. I think clues needed. Is there an “operation” one - I think that might go before Hulk, Phantom and Cyclops, maybe Spiderman as well?

sorry phil not operation. i assure you once you get started it should all fall into place. however, the blood pressure clue is probably too obscure so you could have “40th US president” as an easier alternative.

There’s some connection with double letters maybe…?
pianissimo = pp
Schutzstaffel = ss
A few of the superheroes have double initials too (Spiderman = Peter Parker, Hulk = Bruce Banner, Mr Fantastic = Reed Richards).
I may be completely wrong, but this may point someone in the right direction!

ss - schutzstaffel, invisible woman, saints, cyclops
bb - hulk, gun, corporation, king
rr - 40th president, mr fantastic, phantom, shark boy and lava girl
(after meals = post prandial, invisible woman = sue storm, cyclops - polyphemus, rolls royce phantom, shark boy directed by robert rodriguez)
I’d defy any to get that without the internet!
