Some More Awards

Meh, so, out of the World Series main event. Not much I could do. I grafted for a couple of days with no big hands and never a huge chip stack (though always, apart from one loss in the first level of day one, going upwards) then got it all in with a set of tens when my opponent had three kings. How Christmassy for him.
It’s been a good couple of weeks here though; some good poker, lots of fun with nice fellow players, and worth the trip entirely just to see Barny Boatman win a bracelet. That’s not a night I’ll forget.
Here are some more award-winning visual moments from my trip.
Most fun-looking breakfast viewed through a window:
Happiest glimpse of a celebrity on the slots:
(Yes! It’s Michael Greco at the Dolly Parton!)
Least subtle subliminal messaging in a shop name:
(although it begs the question: does one have to buy the left shoes somewhere else?)
Classiest photograph for sale at the Rio, in the corridor alongside the poker books and the sunglasses and the WSOP t-shirts (did anyone buy this? Did a hundred people buy it? And why didn’t I remember, when I saw it, that I need to go home with a birthday present for my mother ?)
Scariest mountain fire on the horizon:
And finally, of course, the all-important dealer who most resembled Michael Jackson:
All things considered, not a bad year.
