The Agenda

Saturday, 22 February 2014

Just to say I’m doing The Agenda again on Monday (10.35pm, ITV). The other guests are Boris Johnson, Theo Papihitis and Fiona Shaw - I figured that line-up was just too much fun to turn down.

Boris Johnson the great debater?Mmm.He is a 21st century version of those British, public school, lethal Buffoons who amassed the British Empire with no regard for the people whose country they stole. If he ever becomes Prime Minister he will make Margaret Thatcher seem like Mother Teresa!

Well that was a pleasant surprise.

It’s rare that I see discourse on positive discrimination which reflects my beliefs and doesn’t make me cringe but it happened tonight.

I always love how you put (slightly) radical beliefs in an accessible, non-confrontational manor.
(And you won the headline contest.)

I liked what you said about the church leaders! I agree, it’s interesting to see a public debate about what is or isn’t the moral imperative - most of the time they’re just spouting hot air about nothing, this is a real and clear matter that people ought to think about.

Just watched your terrific expose of the real P.L. Travers. When I was much younger, I liked to say: “Your life is your movie, make it a hit!” Now, as I see the end of my movie peeking over the horizon, I’m longing for the lie, and hoping for a miracle. I wonder if 20 years ago, at your age, I had such wisdom? But then, that’s an oxymoron isn’t it.

Thanks for such an intelligent and thought provoking piece of work.
