Tonight’s Heresy

Tuesday, 14 April 2009

Very good episode tonight, guests are Mark Steel, Matthew Norman and Richard Coles. The recording was great, they were all really smart and funny. I love Richard Coles - the Communards singer who became a priest. He’s just a fantastic character and a lovely man, and I have never felt more like a Radio 4 host than the moment when Richard told a story which began, “I was chatting with the Bishop of Iceland…”

The received opinions to be attacked are:

THE BANKERS ARE TO BLAME FOR GETTING US INTO THIS MESS
PEOPLE WHO GO TO PSYCHICS ARE GULLIBLE
and
BRITISH CUISINE IS BETTER NOW THAN IT WAS IN THE 1970s.

It’s a really funny episode, worth a listen: 6.30pm, Tuesday April 14th, Radio 4.

It was great, but a clip of Giles and Sue on Supersizers for the 70s thing would have topped it off nicely.

I think you should put a link in the Heresy blogs to the listen again section on BBC R4…i mean i have it on my fav’s bar but still would be nice :)

It’s a good idea in theory, BUT I usually put up a blog plugging Heresy before the episode has gone out (to give people a chance to hear the Radio 4 broadcast if they like the sound of it) - at which point it isn’t on Listen Again yet!
But can always add later: I believe this week’s episode can be found at

Is there a podcast version? If not, why not?

Victoria Coren at 11:27 am on April 16th, 2009

No, I don’t think so. And that’s because I don’t really know what one is. Is it just like Listen Again, but online forever instead of for a week? This technology is beyond me… I’m happy to leave the BBC to broadcast it in whatever way occurs to them…

Didn’t have you down as a technophobe ;-)

I shall pass my podcast related concerns on to the highest authorities at the beeb then.

Great show btw!

You think you’ve got techno problems, Vicky? I haven’t been able to figure out yet how to get on to the internet. How the bloody hell do you do it? This is so bloody frustrating!

Most radio shows produced by independent production companies aren’t podcasted. Most BBC productions are.
