The Premier League clenches its fist again…
Saturday, 1 November 2008
Poker-wise, Victoria has shivered, bitten the bullet and signed up for the next series of Premier League Poker, filmed mid-November for broadcast in 2009. So far, the rest of the line-up includes Devilfish, Roland de Wolfe, Annette Obrestad, Phil Hellmuth, Nenad Medic and JC Tran. Marvellous. Victoria is very sorry that this clashes with the Vic festival and the GUKPT final, which she would have loved to play - but, on the plus side, the Premier League involves travelling further and paying far more money to play against a much tougher field. Oh, she’s right on top of her game selection.
Meanwhile, Chocolate and Cuckoo Clocks, the new and definitive Alan Coren anthology edited by Giles and Victoria Coren, is selling well and into its third reprint.
And Only Connect, described by The Times as “An addictive new lateral-thinking quiz show.. a cult hit”, hosted by VC, continues on BBC Four, Monday nights at 8.30pm and repeated on Fridays. Watch out for the upcoming quarter-finals and semi-finals, where the questions get so difficult that if you can answer three of them you should apply to be Prime Minister.
