Christmas Comes With Connecting Cheer

The Only Connect semi-finals kick off on Monday December 6th: there are two of those, of course, followed by a third place play-off and the ONLY CONNECT FINAL on Monday December 27th. Perfect: just when your brain is at its groggiest. (Always at 8.30pm on BBC Four.)
On Sunday December 5th, Victoria is chairing a debate about the English language at the British Library with panellists Peter Gilliver from the O.E.D., Susie Dent the lexicographer from Dictionary Corner, and Simon Heffer of the Daily Telegraph.
For UK & Irish poker players, the COOP (regional Championship of Online Poker) runs from December 5th to December 12th on PokerStars, with well-priced tournaments daily at times that are sympathetic to players in Britain and Ireland - hurray! Look for the events in the PokerStars lobby under Tourney / Regional.
On Tuesday, December 21st, Victoria will be a guest on Rufus Hound’s Teenage Diaries at 6.30pm on Radio 4, taking a deep breath and a large swig of wine before reading extracts from her embarrassing schoolgirl journals.
Other than that, Victoria will be looking forward to the X Factor final where her bets are looking very healthy (assuming it’s won by Matt, Rebecca or One Direction: all profitable results!) and trying to remember how she cooked the turkey last year.
