It’s A Desert Out There
Friday, 1 July 2011
Victoria is in Las Vegas playing various events (and some unwise table games) at the World Series of Poker - beginning her attempt to win the Main Event on Day 1c, July 9th. [Update: she made day two but was pretty card-dead and couldn’t beat fate; the dream is over for another year…]
She probably won’t be writing her Observer column from the desert, though her Guardian poker column will be appearing every Wednesday as usual, with WSOP news.
For photos from her Vegas trip, keep an eye on the blog.
On the last Sunday of the month, July 31st, look out for the “Red Spade Open” tournament on PokerStars (8pm UK time): $55 buy-in with $1m guaranteed prize pool. Victoria and other Team Pro players will be bounties, so there’s extra money for knocking them out. Satellites to the tournament (to get in for cheaper than $55) will be running throughout the week before on www.PokerStars.com
