New Connects and New Poker Opportunities

Wednesday, 1 September 2010

September 14th: Victoria has won the award for “Best Contribution to Poker” at the 2010 British Poker Awards, run by Bluff magazine in conjunction with Poker News and Poker Europa. She was flattered even to be nominated for this category alongside great names like Jesse May and Anthony Holden, and hopes it will be seen as an award for her book For Richer, For Poorer: A Love Affair With Poker, which was published in the last 12 months.

Meanwhile, a new series of Only Connect starts on September 6th on BBC 4: fresh teams, new questions and several surprise ‘special episodes’ are in the mix. It will be broadcast every Monday night at 8.30pm.

The World Championship of Online Poker runs all month on there is a wide range of poker variants, buy-ins and cheap satellites to get in; for the full list, have a look in the PokerStars lobby and good luck if you play. [September 25th: Victoria cashed in the $530 No Limit Holdem for $2458]

On September 15th, Victoria will be hosting the Threadneedle Art Awards in London, a very grown-up job to take her out of the house in the middle of all that online poker.

From September 29th, the European Poker Tour returns to London. This is the event that Victoria won in 2006 and naturally she’ll be hoping to make it a double. She’ll be talking about the EPT on The Wright Stuff, Channel 5, on Thursday September 30th.

There are also several side events before and after the main championship, both at the Victoria Casino and the Hilton Metropole over the road. If you have a copy of For Richer, For Poorer that you would like to get signed, this a good time to catch Victoria at the tables; there may be a post on the blog nearer the time with a formal signing session, if not just post a request and Victoria can let you know when would be a good time to stop by.
